What is reiki?
Passed down from the lineage of Japanese monk, Mikao Usui; reiki is a form of therapeutic energy healing. Literally defined as “universal life force energy,” reiki is a powerful yet gentle approach to balancing the body.

During the reiki session & suggestions for aftercare.
The night before:
I’ve found a practice of journaling goals for the session, drinking water, and intentionally getting sleep that feels restful, and reducing caffeine/sugar/recreational substance intake promotes deep healing by priming the body to enter a parasympathetic state (the “rest” state of “rest + digest” a.k.a. the opposite of “fight/flight/freeze/fawn”).
The setting:
Reiki works best if you are in a comfortable position and wearing casual, comfortable clothing, lying down or relaxing somewhere you feel comfortable. You may find that putting a pillow under your legs and lying on your back to be a supportive posture for you to relax in during the session. This is your invitation to relax and I encourage you to do what feels supportive to you.
What to expect:
During our reiki session, we will meet in person or distance session via agreed upon location. We will check in for the first five minutes of the session and I can gather what intentions you’re focusing on for your healing. After the session we may check in or I will email you with a brief summary of the session from my perspective-this is an invitation for you to reach out with any questions, comments, stories, curiosities.
Reiki sensation:
Reiki often feels like a warm, sparkly, light, relaxing sensation in the body. Twitching sensation often corresponds with a release of stuck energy. Reiki works with your body’s innate ability to heal, which every body is capable of, and encourages the activation of the parasympathetic nervous system.
After the session:
Drink water. You may find that you naturally feel more thirsty after the session. Refrain from recreational substances/drugs-if you are working through a dependency I would suggest reducing (if you cannot refrain) the intake of the substance (you may feel naturally inclined to do this after the session). I am offering this as a suggestion from a harm reduction lens and it is not medical advice-please contact your licensed primary care provider and/or prescriber for any questions about making changes to substance use/intake.
This is your time for healing and your body is adjusting to being in a relaxed, parasympathetic, balanced state. Eat a -good- meal-eat something you enjoy! This will help your body process and ground itself.
It is common to notice “synchronicities” or events that feel more aligned with a sense of wonder.

I believe self-worth and self-respect are integral to this offering, for myself and for you. For this reason I am requiring that clothes stay on during the session and any vulnerable areas on the body (genitals and breasts) remain covered. If you choose to dishonor this agreement, I will end the session immediately + terminate all sessions scheduled thereafter, document this violation, and file a report - you will be charged for the full session.
Cancellations + Rescheduling:
I am available to contact prior to cancelling and rescheduling. If you need to reschedule, feel free to connect with me and we can work out a better time & date.
Refunds for services:
Given the nature of this work I do not offer refunds.
Payment:
Payment is donation-based and agreed upon prior to the session. I am requiring that payments be made within 24 hours of the session. I will follow up with you if I do not receive a payment for the session.
If you feel challenged to pay for the session-you may let me know and we can figure out the best solution with a focus on feeling empowered in decision making.
Privacy:
All information shared during the session (with a few exceptions provided hereafter) will remain private. Exceptions to privacy: your consent (you may change this at any time), if you discuss an instance of abuse of an elder, dependent adult, or child, if you experience an emergency during the session that requires medical attention and/or mandatory reporting; and, if agreed upon aforementioned boundaries are compromised during the session. Any notes from the session are protected by a two-password verification process and are available for you to access upon request.
Your well-being:
Please contact your primary health care provider if you feel unwell before or after the session. By choosing to schedule a reiki session with me you are acknlowedging your full responsibility for your own well-being.
