I am gratefully accepting donations for my next chapter in Japan.
I visited and participated in courses held at Shikoku Medical College and Morinomiya University of Medical Sciences, learning this beautiful medicine of acupuncture, moxibustion, and meridian therapy.
I am excited to share with you this article from Shikoku Medical College.
Thank you
What comes next…
I am so moved by this study abroad opportunity-the way of living and learning in Japan and the culture of omotenashi -hospitality.
I am planning travels to Japan for this autumn to spend a semester recovering my studies, honing my acupuncture and moxibustion skills, and expanding my understanding of acupuncture through the lens of Japanese meridian therapy.
Fundraising for Japan Study Abroad
I am raising funds for a study abroad course being offered by the acupuncture school I am attending (AIMC in Berkeley, CA). I am traveling to Japan to cultivate a breadth of understanding for this medicine of acupuncture. I am most looking forward to studying facial acupuncture as it is practiced in Japan because this is an area that aligns with my future vision of myself as a licensed acupuncturist. I feel a deep gratitude for the acupuncture community and all of the connections I am making on this path. I believe traveling to Japan to observe and practice will strengthen my connections in the acupuncture community and with practitioners of other healing modalities.
I am delighted to answer any questions you have about what inspires me to say yes to this opportunity to study in Japan.

Some questions I think you may have…
What are you doing in Japan?
I am attending classes on Japanese-style acupuncture including gentle needling technique, Japanese style palpation and moxibustion, abdominal diagnosis and sports medicine techniques and (my personal favorite) facial acupuncture. I will also be visiting some museums and shrines valuable to understanding the history of Japan and Japanese acupuncture.
I am planning to visit Mount Kurama, which is known to be the birthplace of Reiki.
For those who are really curious, I have put the academic itinerary below.
When are you traveling and how long will you be there?
I am leaving for Japan in the beginning of April and will be there for just about two weeks. I am traveling to Kyoto, Osaka, and Shikoku (primarily).
Why should I give you my money?
Every donation is supporting a future of accessible, trauma-informed holistic care. Each person who participates in helping me raise money for this trip will receive either a 45 min. distance reiki session or intuitive tarot card reading, as an exchange. Even if you donate $1 you will receive this exchange from me - unless you prefer to donate without receiving a reiki or tarot session.
What happens if I donate more than once?
If you assist me in fundraising through multiple donations you will be entered into a raffle where I will send you a little East Asian medicine themed care package with some extra goodies thrown in and a $20 donation to a non-profit of your choosing.
(Just for fun) What is moxibustion?
Moxibustion or “moxa” is an Eastern therapeutic technique affecting the promotion of healthy circulation in the body by working with the herb mugwort (Ai Ye in Pinyin). Burning mugwort is contraindicated in some cases but when applied correctly is balancing for the qi and blood of the body. Read more here.
Please feel free to ask more questions if you are curious!
My questions for you:
Do you have any recommendations for visiting Japan?
What would you like to learn about from me, after I complete this study abroad course?
Are you interested in learning about East Asian medicine? If so, what are you curious about?
